"Oh come on, you're gonna leave me all alone here with less angry Rosie O'Donnell?"

Angel Dust (born Christina) is a mutant with adrenaline-based powers, a high-ranking member of the Workshop program, and the secondary antagonist of Deadpool, the eighth installment of the X-Men film series.

Biography[]

Deadpool[]

After obtaining her powers through the Workshop program, Angel Dust became Ajax's right-hand and would assist him in continuing the program. One day, when Wade Wilson wound up on their table after having been diagnosed with terminal cancer, Angel Dust was charged with torturing him in the hopes of triggering a mutation. Although they were ultimately successful in getting Wade to mutate, he would escape soon after and destroy the Workshop, forcing Ajax and Angel Dust to move their business elsewhere. Unbeknownst to the two of them however, Wade would survive the Workshop's destruction due to his healing factor and spend the next year hunting Ajax as the costumed vigilante known as Deadpool.

About a year later, Angel Dust was working at the Workshop when Ajax walked in, bloodied from having encountered Deadpool on the way back. After she stitched him up, the two of them went out to go hunt Wade down, eventually learning of and abducting his fiancée Vanessa Carlysle.

Setting up camp on a decommissioned aircraft carrier in a scrapyard, Angel Dust watched as Ajax prepared to kill Vanessa with another oxygen deprivation chamber until Deadpool, accompanied by Colossus and Negasonic Teenage Warhead, arrived to stop them. While Deadpool fought Ajax, Angel Dust took on Colossus and although she was initially able to hold his own against him, Colossus proved to be stronger and ultimately overpowered her. However, before Colossus could defeat her, his sense of chivalry distracted him when he accidentally tore her shirt during their fight, exposing her nipples, and Angel Dust used the distraction to punch him in the crotch, stunning him long enough for her to grab a metal pipe and strangle him with it.

Fortunately, before Angel Dust could kill Colossus, Negasonic attacked her from behind, causing a massive explosion that knocked them both out and destabilized the equipment supporting the carrier. As the carrier started to collapse around them, Colossus was able to recover and get both Angel Dust and Negasonic to safety.

Following Ajax's death and the presumed termination of the Workshop program, Angel Dust's ultimate fate is left unknown.

Personality[]

Angel Dust is tough, menacing, and sadistic. Although a victim of the Workshop herself, she carries out most of the unethical experiments at the facility without hesitation and had no qualms torturing the patients there, including Deadpool.

She appears to be a typical henchwoman, as she shows complete loyalty to Ajax, follows his orders without question, and even provides him with medical aid. Angel Dust is also incredibly impulsive and easily agitated, especially by Deadpool, and has been repeatedly shown to be fond of chewing on matches.

During her battle with Colossus, Angel Dust takes advantage of his chivalry twice, enabling her to sucker-punch him in the face and then later on in the crotch. However, she appears to be slightly amused or charmed by Colossus when he covers his eyes and informs her of her exposed breast, describing him as "sweet". It should be noted, however, that is likely a hint of the deceptive side to her personality, as she attempted to kill him right after she covered up.

Powers and Abilities[]

Powers[]

  • Adrenaline Activation: Angel Dust draws her powers from her adrenaline, which she can use to vastly increase her strength. Her adrenaline is mostly active when she is angered, agitated or excited. This is notable when she was hurt by Deadpool in her calm state, but was later able to fight Colossus on equal terms. This power has no known limits and can potentially make her one of the physically strongest individual on the planet.
    • Superhuman Strength:

Angel Dust possesses immense superhuman strength that most mutants can only hope to match. When further increased by her adrenaline, her strength grows to the point that she can go to-to-toe with mutants as powerful as Colossus. During the scrapyard fight, Angel Dust was able to effortlessly break through stone and bend metal, and easily hold the upper hand against Colossus in their battle until he started landing hits on her and eventually overwhelmed her with his superior strength. She was also able to strangle Colossus with a metal pipe and would have likely killed him had Negasonic not interfered. At rest, her strength limit allows her to press 800 lbs and through her adrenaline, she can increase this to an unknown limit.
    • Superhuman Durability: Angel Dust is immensely tough, enabling her to take extreme amounts of punishment without taking any damage. As such, she was able to tank direct hits from both Colossus and Negasonic without suffering any physical injuries.
    • Superhuman Reflexes: Angel Dust's reaction time is at superhuman levels, as shown by how she was able to occasionally land hits on Colossus at greater speeds than he could react.
    • Superhuman Stamina: Angel Dust possesses far more than normal stamina, allowing her to remain physically active for long periods of time without tiring out.

Abilities[]

  • Master Combatant: Angel Dust appears to be very skilled in mixed martial arts, as she was able to throw Colossus with a chokehold and use a triangle leg lock on his arm.

Trivia[]

  • Although they never engaged in a battle against each other, Angel Dust is likely more powerful than Deadpool in terms of hand-to-hand combat and physical strength since she defeated Colossus, who was strong enough to take down Deadpool in a single attack, in a fist fight and nearly killed him.
  • Angel Dust is 5'8 inches tall.
  • In the comics, Angel Dust is a natural born mutant with the ability to activate her adrenaline levels to increase her physical prowess. She is also a teenager in the comics and a member of the Morlocks in Chicago.
  • In the film, Angel Dust is an adult who gained her powers through experimentation by Ajax, who she formerly worked for. In addition, her powers do not appear to be as dependent on a temporary surge of adrenaline compared to the comics. The upward limits of her physical strength seem to be higher in the film version as well, as she is able to hold her own in hand-to-hand combat with Colossus.
