"The law applies to human beings. The same laws don't apply to mutants. They're too dangerous. In times like this, security is more important than liberty."
―William Stryker Sr.[src]

William Stryker Sr. was a top CIA official, the father of William Stryker and grandfather of Jason Stryker.

Biography[]

X-Men: First Class[]

Stryker Senior was present along with John McCone at the CIA Headquarters when Professor X and Mystique showcased their powers to the CIA. During this briefing, Stryker was thinking of his son, which Charles Xavier picked up on through his telepathy. At first they though Charles was a spy until Mystique transforms into Stryker. He was also present with another CIA agent when Emma Frost was placed in a prison cell in the CIA Headquarters. She told him that the conflict between humans and mutants is not a war; because a war suggests that both sides stand an equal chance of winning.

During the mutant intervention in the Cuban Missile Crisis, Stryker spearheaded the attack on the mutants on the beach, after communicating with Russian military officials that shared his concerns about the threat of the mutants. The other officials in the Joint War Room agreed with Stryker's mandate, ordering their vessels stationed off Cuba to fire their missiles against the mutants alongside the Russians.

Stryker was later present during the interrogation of a mind wiped Moira MacTaggert, when Magneto broke into the CIA Headquarters to free Emma Frost from her prison cell.
