Mitchell was a guard for Magneto. He gave him dinner and made sure he was well behaved.
A girl named Grace saw Mitchell in a bar. He heard the debate between Hank McCoy and Dr. Shaw. He said to turn it off and they both then had sex. He drank his last drink and passed out. Grace, who was revealed to be Mystique, put a lot of iron in him so Magneto could get out of prison.
Magneto lifted Mitchell up using the iron in his body and killed him, then escaped from his cell using Mitchell's iron.
