The Mutant Cure is a special, anti-mutagenic cure that is capable of removing a mutant's powers to restore as humans. Warren Worthington II created it with Leech's DNA a few years after he found out his son Warren Worthington III was a mutant.

History

X-Men: First Class

Hank McCoy managed to develop a serum that he believed could suppress a person's physical mutation. However, after being driven to test it on himself, Hank realized that the serum temporarily suppressed the mutation before further enhancing it, turning him into a creature with blue fur.

X-Men: Days of Future Past (1973)

By 1973, Hank had refined his serum and used it regularly to suppress his mutation and appear human. After many of the teachers and older students were drafted for the Vietnam War, the school was closed and Charles fell into a state of depression, losing control over his telepathy. Hank developed a serum, derived from the serum that he used, that would allow Charles to walk. However, while Hank would use his serum in moderation, allowing him to transform into his blue, beast form if pressed, Charles would take too much of his, suppressing his power completely.

X-Men: The Last Stand

Developed by Worthington Labs, the Mutant Cure was distributed to mutants who wished to get rid of their powers, Rogue among them. It was to be unveiled in Alcatraz Island, resulting in the Brotherhood of Mutants attacking the island to destroy it. However, with the intervention of the X-Men, the villains were defeated after their leader, Magneto, was injected with four doses of the cure and the world, having a new impression of the mutants, decided against manufacturing the cure.

The Wolverine

Fully recovering from the cure's effects, Magneto accompanied Charles Xavier to an airport to enlist Wolverine's help with fighting the Sentinels.

X-Men: Days of Future Past

Rogue Cut
By 2023, Rogue also recovered from the cure's effects. She was held prisoner in the Cerebro chamber in the X-Mansion by the Sentinels while human scientists experimented on her to adapt her powers to the Sentinels.

X-Men: Days of Future Past (1973)

"I designed a serum to treat his spine; derived from the same formula that helps me control my mutation. I take just enough to keep myself balanced, but he takes too much."

When Logan arrived at the school, seeking Hank and Charles' help to change the future, Charles was initially hesitant to render assistance. However, in time, Logan was able to convince Charles to accept his power and he gave up his dependence on the serum.

When Magneto uses the Sentinels to take down Hank, he uses three doses of his serum in order to revert back to his human self. The serum suppressed the mutant X-Gene to an extent that the Sentinels, which were programmed to detect the X-Gene, were unable to sense any trace of it within Hank.

X-Men: Apocalypse

"What's wrong with you?! Is that going to happen to all of us?
No, I just left my meds in the house."
Quicksilver and Hank McCoy[src]
Hank continued to use his serum to control his appearance into the 1980s. After he, Mystique, Quicksilver and Moira MacTaggert were captured by William Stryker and taken to Alkali Lake, the effects of the serum wore off and he reverted to his blue, beast form.
