Biography

Early Life

James "Jimmy" Howlett was born in 1832 in what would later be known as the Northwest Territories of Canada.

In 1845, James lay sick in his bed while Victor, who was currently visiting him, kept him company as James' father arrived to check in on him. A few moments later, Victor's father, and John's groundskeeper, Thomas Logan (who was also having an affair with John Howlett's wife), entered the Howlett home, drunk, looking for James' mother Elizabeth Howlett and had a confrontation with John, who headed downstairs to settle a dispute with Victor's father, which had resulted in Thomas shooting Elizabeth's husband. James then heard gunfire during a dispute at his father's estate, and went to investigate, finding him dead, as he was shot by Thomas.

Logan's powers begin to manifest.

It was under this grief-stricken incident that, in an act of vengeance, James' mutation began to manifest as he sprout bone claws, slowly emerging from his fists and knuckles. In a wild rage, James screamed in anger and fury and impaled Thomas using his claws. However, while impaling Thomas with his newly discovered bone claws, before dying, Thomas revealed that John wasn't James' real father. Much to James' horror, with his dying breath, Thomas revealed that he was James' true father by telling him he is also his son.

After Thomas died, Elizabeth, horrified by James' mutation, cast her son out by calling him a freak as she questioned James as to what he was. Confused about what was happening to him, James fled and ran into the woods, with Victor following behind him. After running away, Victor, who was also a mutant, caught up and overtook James. Victor said that they were brothers and vowed to stick together and that they would look after each other no matter what, eventually leading them to a life of rage and violence. As Victor was truly his own family, as they shared a father, James took his Thomas Logan's surname as his own, going by James Logan, or simply "Logan".

During the Vietnam War, in mid-late 1973, the last war Logan and Victor participated in, Victor attacked and attempted to rape and kill a young Vietnamese village woman. But when soldiers from his platoon and commanding officer try to stop him, Victor kills a senior officer, and then brutally attacked the soldiers who tried to stop him. Logan comes to his aid and reluctantly assists Victor, releasing his claws and prepares to defend his brother, ready to fight as they promised, revealing their gifts to the other men in their unit. For their grave insubordination, this incident led to Victor and Logan being sentenced to death and placed in front of a firing squad to be executed after decapitating a senior officer. They are shot by a firing squad but they do not die, as their healing factors, which kept them alive, prove hard to kill them.

Logan and Victor are sent to be executed by a firing squad.

They survived the execution and death sentence and, because of their unique regenerative healing abilities, both mutants are placed in a cell soon after. Logan and Victor were eventually brought the attention of Major William Stryker, who visits and confronts them as he enters their cell. Stryker asks them to join his special team of mutants he is assembling Team X, as a way out of imprisonment. Victor and Logan accept and join other mutants - Wade Wilson, Agent Zero, Chris Bradley, Fred Dukes and John Wraith - on covert missions throughout the world.

During one of their missions, while under Stryker's command, Team X is sent to search for and retrieve a mysterious meteorite - later discovered as Adamantium - from a diamond trafficking operation in Lagos, Nigeria. They attack a compound there and after defeating the compound's security forces, they obtain a mysterious rock - later discovered as a meteorite fragment that fell from the sky as a meteor - from the compound's leader and discover that it originates from a remote village.

Upon arriving at the village, Stryker and the team them interrogated nearby villagers to see if there were any other meteorites and are informed that the rock fell from the sky as a meteor. Stryker wants more information and has Wade Wilson interrogate in his place because he speaks the language. When they threatened the village as to where the meteorite came from, the village chief refused to tell Stryker the origins of the meteorites, as they believe them to be sacred. After receiving no further answers, Stryker orders his team to attack the villagers by first ordering Victor to kill the chief. The whole village descended into chaos as Stryker's team started killing the civilians. When the mutants begin attacking a nearby village, Logan, however, stops them before they can do so.

After a brief argument with Victor, Logan quits the team, saying he can't kill innocent people as he was disgusted by the murders committed by his teammates, Stryker's willingness to kill innocent civilians, and Victor's acceptance of this. He promptly leaves and abandons Victor and the group before walking into the night and leaving, while ignoring Victor's calling out to him. With his departure, Team X disbands. Eventually, after everyone else left, only Agent Zero and Victor stayed faithful to Stryker.

In 1979, six years after leaving Team X, Logan is living in western Canada, residing in a cabin high in the Canadian Rockies, working as a lumberjack and living with a school teacher named Kayla. After many years of participating in warfare, Logan now desires a more quiet and tranquil life. Kayla manipulated him into a state of complacency with her power, calming him though the nightmares of the past. Eventually, Stryker and Agent Zero find Logan at his job. Stryker asks Logan to rejoin him in order to stop Victor (who was murdering former members of Team X), but Logan rebuffs him and leaves in his car.

Logan forms a relationship with Kayla Silverfox.

One night, Kayla told Logan about a spirit who was tricked into being parted forever from his lover, the Moon. Stemming from her Native American ancestry, she recites a story to Logan about a spirit named Kuekuatsheu (pronounced in the movie as koo-ay-koo-aut-soo and translates into 'Wolverine') who fell in love with the moon but was fooled by the Trickster into stepping foot in the mortal world from which he could never return. Thus, the spirit, Kuekuatsheu was parted forever from the moon, was subsequently forced to look at the Moon forever and never be with her again, howling at her whenever he saw her.

One day, while Logan is at work, Kayla is attacked by Victor. Sensing Victor's presence in the area, he rushes to Kayla's abandoned car but finds that he is too late for any kind of rescue. Kayla is dead and understands that this is Victor's doing.

Logan escapes the Weapon X facility.

Prior to the adamantium procedure, Logan asks for new dog tags with the name "Wolverine" on them - a reference to the story Kayla told him. Stryker binds Logan's bones with adamantium, and he flat lines afterwards. After a few moments, though, he resuscitates and escapes the facility after overhearing Stryker order that his memories be erased for so that his DNA could be used for an upcoming project. Logan continues to flee until he finds a barn and hides in it.

The elderly couple who owns the barn offers him food and shelter. Although wary of him at first, they soon warm up to him, even giving Logan a jacket which belonged to their son and allowing him to take their motorcycle for a spin. However, just before offering him breakfast, Agent Zero kills the couple. The barn is bombed as Logan escapes on the bike. After a long and daring chase, he attacks Zero's helicopter and takes it down.

Blob vs Wolverine

Wolverine fights Blob in a boxing match.

After killing Zero, Logan attempts to locate the two remaining members of Team X and finds John Wraith and Fred Dukes in Las Vegas. Intent on killing Victor in revenge for Kayla's death and Stryker for his betrayal, Logan tries to inquire Dukes about Stryker's activities. A misunderstanding ensues, leading to a boxing match between the two. Logan ends up beating Dukes and interrogates him until he is told about a mutant and former prisoner named Remy LeBeau, or as most people call him, Gambit.

Logan and Wraith find Gambit in New Orleans and asks him about Stryker's Island, where mutants are being held hostage for Stryker's new project, Weapon XI.

Wolverine fights Gambit after Gambit believes he was going to take him back to the Island.

Gambit, believing that Logan wants to take him back to the Island, attacks him. Soon, Logan sees Wraith's dead body with Victor crouching next to it, collecting samples of Wraith's DNA. Enraged, after knocking out Gambit, Logan engages Victor. While the brothers battle, Logan gains the upper hand and nearly prepares to kill Victor. However Gambit, who regained consciousness during the battle, attacks Logan from a rooftop, allowing Victor to escape. After defeating Gambit, Logan clarifies his intentions and convinces him to take him to the Island.

With Gambit's help, Logan arrives at the Island, which turns out to be Three Mile Island. After Logan arrives on the Island, he finds Stryker, who tells him about Deadpool, and reveals that Kayla (present on the island) wasn't really killed; as Silverfox is revealed to be alive and was reluctantly working for Stryker. As Victor is watching through the window from a nearby room, Wolverine was told that Victor and Stryker were subsequently working together to capture various mutants, culminating in tricking Wolverine into agreeing to have adamantium bonded to his skeleton by claiming that Victor had gone rogue and had killed the woman Wolverine loved. She had at some point been recruited by Stryker for the purpose of seducing Logan and creating an incident where he was compelled to join the Weapon X program and participating in the adamantium procedure - in this case, her faked death. After Logan discovered that Kayla is not only alive but also working for William Stryker, he likens her to the Trickster who played Logan as the fool. This hurt Logan deeply, and feeling betrayed after learning this, he decided to leave the facility and move on with his life.

Wolverine fights Sabretooth at Three Mile Island

Wolverine, having heard Kayla's screams and calls of distress, rushes back to her rescue and returns to engage and fight Victor yet again. Wolverine attacks Victor and they battle each other, with Logan ultimately gaining the upper-hand, and after defeating him in combat, Wolverine manages to pin his half-brother down and is in a position to kill Victor. When Logan, finally having the chance to decapitate and kill Victor, he doesn't when Kayla then intervenes and talks Logan out of it; as she had convinced him that he would be no better than Stryker, saying that Logan was not an animal while Victor taunts him. Logan, listening to Kayla's pleas, chose not to give into his animal instincts, instead punches and knocks out Victor instead, subsequently spring Victor, refusing to kill him, thus sparing his brother.

Following the fight between Victor and Logan, Kayla said that she only did what Stryker wanted her to do because of her sister, Emma, is being held a captive hostage on the island. Kayla then told Logan that she faked her death in order to help release her sister Emma, which William Stryker broke his promise to release her. Despite taking part in faking her death as a way for Stryker to copy Wolverine's powers and test the adamantium, Kayla assures Logan that her feelings for him were genuine and their love was real and explains that Stryker has her sister in custody along with other mutants some of whose powers were pooled into the Deadpool project. He agrees to help her as Logan and Kayla then proceed to free the mutant prisoners.

Wolverine rescues the mutant prisoners including Kayla's sister Emma.

After freeing the imprisoned mutants, while leading them out of the facility, Logan, and the mutants are stopped and confronted by Weapon XI, Deadpool - now controlled by Stryker. Logan ordered the others to find another way out so that he could engage this new abomination on his own. They clash as the other mutants flee. Using Chris Bradley's power, Stryker was able to control him to kill Wolverine. They fight as the other Mutants flee. With the other powers he had from several other mutants (including Cyclops' optic beams, Wolverine's healing power, John Wraith's teleportation, Chris Bradley's technopathy, and Wade's prized blades used as two retractable arm blades) he was ready to fight and kill Wolverine.

Logan climbs one of the nuclear reactor's cooling towers, with Deadpool in pursuit. Weapon XI follows in an instant using Wraith's teleportation ability. Logan puts forth his best effort but is pinned down. Just as Deadpool is about to decapitate him, (at the command of Stryker), Victor shoves Deadpool away, and both of them fall into the reactor. Victor catches Logan, explaining to Logan that the only reason he saved him was so he could kill him himself by saying "Nobody kills you but me".

Logan and Victor eventually tag team and end up back to back with Deadpool teleporting in front of each of them back and forth, eventually catching and stabbing him. However, Deadpool manages to teleport to the other side of the reactor. During the fight, Deadpool's built-in optic blasts activate, threatening both Logan and Victor. As Deadpool fires his optic blasts, Victor attacks Deadpool as he fires on Logan with his optic blasts. Logan falls over the edge of the reactor as Victor is caught jumping at Weapon XI and shot back. Logan climbs back onto the reactor and just as Weapon XI is blasting Victor into the ground. Just before Deadpool can kill Victor, Logan runs, jumps and slashes Weapon XI through the neck, successfully decapitating him. Weapon XI holds his neck as Logan kicks him into the nuclear reactor cooling tower, his head falling off as he tumbles below, with the lasers of his optic blasts, that are still activated, still firing.

Wolverine cuts off Deadpool's head.

After defeating Deadpool, Logan helps Victor out of the hole, and coldly informed Victor that, despite his help, their relationship was over, and tells him that they're done; with nothing being changed, as Logan states he wants nothing more to do with him. Victor said they can never be finished and simply reminded Logan that they are still brothers, and tells him that brothers should always still look out for each other. Victor then jumped off the side of the reactor cooling tower.

As the reactor starts to tumble, Logan follows, collapsing as he lands. Just before a piece of the reactor lands on Logan, Gambit saves him by breaking up the piece. Gambit and Logan then briefly split up, with Gambit going to help the children and Logan attending to Kayla. Logan carries her a few steps before Stryker shoots him in the back. In a feral rage, he turns and sprints at Stryker, eventually jumping after him.

As he is in mid-leap, Logan is shot in the head by Stryker with adamantium bullets, and falls to the ground, unconscious - damaging his brain and losing much of his long-term memory. Just as Stryker is about to kill Kayla, she grabs his ankle and, using her power, orders him to leave before dying. As Logan awakes, he has forgotten everything and everyone, including Gambit and Kayla. However, when he sees Kayla's corpse, he shuts her eyes. Gambit and Logan soon go separate ways.

In an added scene at the end of the movie, Wolverine is seen drinking at a bar in Japan. When the bartender asks if he is drinking to forget, Wolverine replies that he's actually drinking to remember.

Later in the bar hosting one of his cage fights, he is watched by Marie, now going by the name Rogue, who walks inside a building where a crowd is cheering at a caged wrestling match, which she witnesses. A match just ended, and it seems that it is not the winner's first victory that night. A new wrestler enters the cage, and a new battle begins. At first, the new person seems to have the upper hand, but then the winner recovers at amazing speed and fights back, easily defeating the new person in mere seconds. The announcer announces the winner and still champion – Wolverine. Marie watches him in awe.

Later that night, after the fights are over, she is sitting down at the bar quietly. Wolverine comes and sits near her, ordering a beer. He looks at her, as she seems out of place in the bar. In the background, a news report is telling about the upcoming gathering of world leaders in New York, and that they will be talking about many topics, including the mutant phenomenon. The wrestler from earlier approaches Wolverine and demands his money, saying that no man can take a beating like that without a mark, which means he must be a mutant. Wolverine will not budge, and the wrestler pretends to give up, but then pulls a knife and goes to attack. Marie screams to Wolverine to look out, and he jumps out of his chair and unsheathes his razor-sharp metal claws at him.

The barman threatens him with a gun, but he takes him on as well. Wolverine then leaves the bar, and Marie runs after him after she soon discovered that Wolverine is a mutant. Thinking that he would understand, she gets into his truck, hides in the trailer of his truck, and Wolverine as drives away.

Later, on the road, Wolverine notices something in the back. He stops the truck, gets out and checks the cart, where he soon finds Marie, hiding. She apologizes and says that she needed a ride. After he discovers Marie, Wolverine kicks her out by ordering her out to the cold and begins to re-enter the truck. She yells that she saved his life, but he says that she did not and starts driving away. Wolverine keeps driving, and after a few meters, guilt makes him stop, and Marie goes inside before he keeps driving, thus allowing her to accompany him.

During the drive, they begin to converse and slowly form a father/daughter relationship. After he gives her something to eat, she introduces herself as Rogue. She asks him questions about his life, but he does not answer. He notices that she is cold, turns on the heater, telling her to put her hands on it, and almost touches her hands, but she pulls them away. At first, he takes it as fear, but then she explains that when people come to skin-to-skin contact with her they get hurt. She looks at his hands and asks him if it hurts when his claws come out. He answers that it hurts every time, and then asks her what kind of a name is Rogue. She asks him the same question about his name, Wolverine, and he tells her that his name is Logan.

She tells him that her name's Marie, and then advises him to wear his seat belt. He tells her that he doesn't need driving tips, but just then they slam into a tree branch and Logan is thrown through the front shield a few dozen meters away into the snow. The truck starts burning as Rogue wakes and sees Wolverine gets up. He walks back and asks her if she is alright, to which she answers that she's stuck after watching in shock how his wounds heal. He walks over to help her, but then his hyperactive senses pick on the scent of a foe – Sabretooth.

Suddenly, Sabretooth jumps out of the woods and throws Wolverine. He then throws him again on the truck and walks to him, to the eyes of Rogue, who is already terrified from the fire in the truck. Then, two figures show up behind Sabretooth – Cyclops and Storm. Cyclops puts his hand to his visor and shoots a powerful optic blast at Sabretooth. He then uses his beams to release Rogue, and they grab her and Wolverine and run away seconds before the truck explodes. After Cyclops and Storm successfully came to Wolverine and Rogue's rescue, they take the rescued pair to the X-Mansion.

When Dr. Jean Grey tries to treat Wolverine, he regains consciousness and immediately attempts to escape. He soon discovers that there are mutants like him there who are trying to control their unnatural abilities under the tutelage of Professor X. Xavier persuades Wolverine to stay with them and become part of the X-Men, as he could get an opportunity to learn more about his forgotten past. Wolverine reluctantly agrees and stays.

Later that night, when Wolverine was having a nightmare and Rogue tried to wake him without touching him, he accidentally impales her with his adamantium claws and started hysterically yelling for help. Bobby, Storm, Jean Grey, Cyclops, and several other children to witness Rogue absorbing Wolverine's powers. Thanks to her absorption power, Rogue is able to absorb Logan's healing ability and heal herself, as shown when her wounds began to heal. However, Rogue also puts Logan in a coma and nearly kills him as Wolverine passes out. The whole incident attracts a worried crowd of students and once again Rogue feels guilty for being herself. She leaves the room, and the other children step away from her panickedly and look at her with apprehension, though Bobby Drake just looks concerned.

The next morning, in Xavier's schoolyard, Rogue is sitting on a bench and looks at the others playing. Bobby shows up and sits next to her. He is angry at her for what happened with Wolverine, saying that mutants should never use their powers against other mutants. She tries defending herself, saying that she had no choice, but he just tells her that if he were she, he would get himself out of there. She asks him what does he mean, and he answers that the students are freaked, while Professor Xavier is furious. Cruelly, he tells her that she should go, and she gets up and walks away, almost crying. As she walks away, Bobby smiles, and his eyes glow yellow for a moment, showing that it was actually Mystique, who successfully tricks Rogue into thinking she is not wanted at the school due to the incident the previous night.

In the train station, Rogue is sitting in a train, waiting for it to leave. She watches other people touching each other freely, and feels sad that she may never get to feel human touch again. Logan eventually caught up to her, and finds Rogue, and sits next to her. They apologize to each other about what happened the previous night, with Wolverine first apologizing for hurting her, and then asks her if she is running again. She tells him that a boy in school told her the professor is mad at her. It was later revealed, that Bobby and Rogue were supposed to meet up for lunch.

While on the train, Rogue asks Wolverine if he thinks she should go back. He answers that he thinks she should follow her instincts. After a pause, she tells him about David. She tells him that the first boy she ever kissed ended up in a coma for three weeks, and she can still feel him inside her head, and Logan, too. Logan hugs her through her shirt and convinces Rogue to stay with Xavier, by telling her that he thinks Xavier is one of the few people who can understand what she is going through and that he really wants to help her, thus promising to take care of her. The train starts moving, and Logan convinces her to give "these geeks" another shot.

Logan pops his claws, and Magneto says that he must be Wolverine, the man with metal running through all his body. He uses his powers to lift Logan in the air and hurt him, as Rogue screams at him to stop. Logan asks Magneto why does he want him, and Magneto answers that it's not him he wants. Logan is horrified to realize that Magneto is really after Rogue. Magneto incapacitates Wolverine by tossing him away and then knocks Rogue unconscious with a tranquilizer dart and captures her. She soon becomes a component in Magneto's machine on the Statue of Liberty.

Wolverine, along with Jean, Cyclops and Storm, head to the Statue of Liberty, where Magneto is implementing his plan. In the process, Wolverine encounters Mystique and stabs her. Afterwords, Sabretooth joins Magneto, who has restrained the X-Men and removes Scott's visor, forcing him to close his eyes. Scott orders Storm to fry him, but Magneto reminds him that it's not a good idea to send a bolted lightning into a huge conductive.

Wolverine fights Mystique and ends up stabbing her.

Later, as Sabretooth approaches Storm, telling her, "You owe me a scream", Logan uses all his might to release himself with the claws, seemingly hurting himself, and Jean yells his name in worry. Sabretooth approaches his body, and just then, Logan leaps at his and pops his claws in his stomach. Sabretooth seems to share Wolverine's healing factor, though, and they later start battling on the statue's head.

During the battle, Wolverine recovers his dog tags. Sabretooth throws Wolverine off the statue, but he manages to cling on and jump up. He beats Sabretooth and hears Rogue scream in pain. He falls down and sticks his claws to the wall to hang on it, almost killing Scott and Jean who are at the other side of the wall. Sabretooth thinks he is dead and walks to Storm, only for Wolverine to jump back in with Cyclops' visor. Jean tells Scott that when she tells him, he should open his eyes. The torch smashes and the machine begins to work. Jean telekinetically places the visor on Scott's eyes and says "Now!", and he shoots, blasting Sabretooth through the wall, who crashes into a boat anchored off Liberty Island.

After the X-Men defeat Sabretooth, with combined efforts, Jean Grey and Storm manage to direct Logan to the top of the machine. The energy field starts spreading, and Wolverine jumps inside. He tries to slash Rogue's chains, but Magneto stops him with his power. As Rogue's energy is being stressed under the machine which would kill her eventually, some of the hair on her forehead turns white.

The X-Men ultimately save her before the machine can stretch her power any further as Cyclops sees a chance and decides to take, managing to blast Magneto. Free to move, Wolverine slashes the machine, stopping the field before it mutates anyone. He cuts Rogue's chains and holds her. She isn't moving and notices the white streak in her hair. He touches her cheek, attempting to give her his regenerative powers, trying to get her to heal in order to save her life. At first, it doesn't seem to work, and Logan begins to despair, thinking Rogue to be dead. Suddenly, a multitude of wounds begin to appear across his face, and blood drips out of several stab wounds. Rogue suddenly wakes up and Logan falls to the ground, unconscious, with gashes all over his face and chest.

Xavier gives Wolverine a hint for the search of his past as promised, directing him to Alkali Lake in Canada. Rogue spots Logan leaving and rushes to talk to him. He tells her that he's got some things to take care of in the north. She says that she doesn't want him to go, and he says that he'll be back, leaving her with his dog tags, something to remember him by when he returns. Wolverine then leaves the mansion on Cyclops' motorcycle heading to Alkali Lake.

X2: X-Men United: The Movie Prequel: Wolverine

Four days after leaving the X-Mansion, Logan reaches Alberta, Canada. During a gas stop to refuel the motorcycle, he encounters Sabretooth, who had been tracking him for days. The two soon engage in combat, and Logan quickly discovers that Sabretooth has a regenerative healing factor like himself.

After fighting for a while, the battle reaches a climax when both are doused in gasoline. Wolverine gambles that of the two, he would survive if set aflame. After igniting the gasoline, he proves to be correct, as Sabretooth writhes in pain. Wolverine then hurdles himself and Sabretooth into a nearby snow bank.

Just as Wolverine is about to kill his enemy, he notices a dog tag on Sabretooth that's very similar to his own. Questioning Sabretooth on the matter, the latter responds that he has always possessed it. In order to find further answers, Wolverine offers to buy Sabretooth a few drinks at a local bar.

At the bar, both Logan and Sabretooth share what they know about each other in order to shed light on their connected past. Through this conversation, Sabretooth states that his real name was Victor Creed and that prior to five years ago, his memory was mostly blank (implying that like Logan, his memory was wiped), save for nightmares of things he did on missions (most likely Team X's various missions). Creed also states that the reason he worked for Magneto was that the latter promised to help in disclosing his past.

Before they can continue their conversation, HYDRA forces break into the bar and confront the two mutants. Although their original intention was to apprehend Creed, the soldiers quickly refocus their efforts on both men.

Logan and Victor work together to fend off the attacking HYDRA, which prompts Victor to state that their fighting side-by-side seemed familiar to him (a recollection of their numerous shared experiences in various wars). Unfortunately, Creed is soon heavily tranquilized, and Logan is rendered unconscious through the use of a sonic disrupter. Once unconscious, they are ordered to be taken to an undisclosed covert ops base run by William Stryker.

A while later, both wake up in the cargo hold of an aircraft en route to the base. As Logan attempts to escape by ripping through the fuselage, Creed grabs his neck and threatens to throw him off the plane. Although claiming that Logan doesn't deserve to learn about his past, Logan himself suspects that Creed is saving him - something that Creed doesn't necessarily deny. However, Creed then rationalizes that what he is doing is payback for the incident on Liberty Island. Just as HYDRA soldiers confront the mutants, Creed disposes of Logan, the latter crashing into a frozen river.

Logan survives the crash, and eventually makes his way back to the motorcycle to continue his journey to Alkali Lake.

Logan finally arrives at Alkali Lake, only to find an old and deserted facility, giving him no clues about his forgotten past. Disappointed, he returns to the X-Mansion.

Upon returning, Rogue happily rushes to the door to welcome back Wolverine, after hearing him arrive on Cyclops' motorcycle. Bobby follows her and formally introduces himself to Wolverine as Rogue's boyfriend, by slightly freezing Wolverine's hand during a handshake.

Logan is then given the responsibility to look after the mutant students in the mansion in Professor X's absence, who plans to visit Magneto in his "plastic prison" with Cyclops to discover what he knows regarding the recent attack on the President. Jean Grey and Storm also leave in search of Nightcrawler, who was found guilty of attacking the President. While the Professor interrogates Magneto, he learns that Magneto had leaked all the information about the X-Mansion and Cerebro to Stryker. Professor X and Cyclops are soon kidnapped by Stryker's forces.

Later that night, back in the X-Mansion, Logan has nightmares of his involvement in the Weapon X program, and decides to walk around the mansion. Wolverine enters the kitchen and converses with Bobby, who freezes the soda Wolverine had in order to make it colder to drink. All of a sudden, during their conversation, Wolverine and Bobby sense Stryker's team, along with his combat force - HYDRA, invading the mansion and starts to look for Cerebro.

Wolverine defends the X-Mansion against intruders.

Wolverine takes out many of the soldiers and saves the students. He instructs Colossus, Iceman, Rogue and Pyro to leave. Stryker, along with his combat force - HYDRA, invades the mansion and starts to look for Cerebro. As Stryker's team is infiltrating the mansion, with Siryn's sonic scream immobilizing them and intruders and alerting the rest of the sleeping students. Wolverine takes out many of the soldiers and saves the students. He instructs Colossus, Iceman, Rogue and Pyro to leave. Wolverine kills many of Stryker's men, while Colossus, Rogue, Iceman, Pyro, and most of the students escape through hidden tunnels.

As Wolverine is about to escape with them, he is confronted by Stryker, whose presence provokes more forgotten memories in his mind. However, he shakes out of it as Stryker who fails to shed any light on Wolverine's past, and Iceman helps Wolverine escape. Wolverine then leaves with the remaining X-Men in a car for Boston to Bobby's house. Meanwhile, Stryker and his soldiers succeed in sedating six students and breaking into Cerebro; as he finds it and steals important components to it so he can construct his own version.

After fleeing from the school due to the attack and getting separated from the rest of the students, Rogue alongside Iceman, Pyro and Wolverine escaped in Cyclops' Car and travel to Boston, where they seek refuge in Bobby's family home to rest and regain their bearings. While in the car, Rogue returns Wolverine's Dog Tag, which were given to her before he left for Alkali Lake.

When Storm, Jean Grey, and Nightcrawler learn of the attack on the X-Mansion from Logan, they head towards Boston in the X-Jet to pick up the others from Bobby's house. Negotiations with the police prove futile and one officer orders Logan to drop his blades; when he retracts them, he is shot in the head, the bullet stopped by his Adamantium skull. While Wolverine was unconscious, John nearly torches Bobby's house to the point where Rogue was forced to use her powers to stop him. As Wolverine recovers, the X-Jet (possessed by Storm and Jean Grey) touches down on the front lawn, saving the group the trouble of getting themselves out of their predicament. Once everyone is on the jet, they take off but are targeted by two Air Force F-16 fighter jets. Storm creates giant tornadoes; however, one of the fighters shoots two missiles at the X-Jet. Jean is able to disable one missile, but the other explodes very close to their jet. They take damage and Rogue is sucked out, only to be saved moments later by Nightcrawler.

The plane is about to crash when Magneto repairs the hole in their ship and stops them just above the ground. Magneto and Mystique, who helped the former to escape from his prison, offer their help in bringing down William Stryker who, as revealed by Magneto, was planning to use Xavier and his handling of the Stryker's Cerebro to kill all the mutants on Earth. He also reveals Stryker's base of operations to be Alkali Lake. The X-Men agree to the alliance. The X-Men reluctantly team up with Magneto and Mystique and travel to Weapon-X facility and rescuing Xavier, Scott, and the other children. While everyone else infiltrated the facility, Bobby, Rogue and John were all but forced to stay in the X-Jet.

Wolverine gains memories at Alkali Lake.

At Alkali Lake, Jean discovers that Stryker's base is underground. Mystique, impersonating Wolverine, infiltrates the base and tricks Stryker's troops into opening a gateway for the X-Men to enter. There, Wolverine decides to explore the base by himself, and he comes across an abandoned laboratory. He starts to remember what had happened to him and how he was experimented upon with the adamantium. Stryker arrives and clears Wolverine's doubts, revealing that he had created the "animal within Wolverine". After Stryker leaves, Wolverine attempts to follow him but, just before Wolverine can get his hands on him, he is attacked by Lady Deathstrike, who intervenes and battles, as a battle of blades ensues.
X-men-2-2003-187-g

Wolverine fights Lady Deathstrike at Alkali Lake.

Wolverine defeated her in the fight by impaling her with a fluid pump and infused her with molten, liquefied adamantium metal. When she was impaled by Wolverine, she broke free of Stryker's control, but there was now nothing she could do to save herself. The adamantium leaked from her eyes, nose and ears and she fell backwards into the water tank in the laboratory where Wolverine received his Adamantium claws, with a thud as the metal hardened in her body.

He then trails Stryker, while the X-Men rescue Cyclops, Xavier, and the kidnapped mutant children.

After the destruction of his base, Stryker attempts to flee in his helicopter but is caught by Wolverine and interrogated. Stryker refuses to cooperate and is pinned by Wolverine, leaving him to be drowned when the dam collapses. As the X-Men leave, Jean sacrifices herself to protect them from the flood. Both Wolverine and Cyclops mourn her death.

X-Men: The Official Game

Following Jean's death, Logan takes out his anger and frustration during a simulation of his battle with Sabretooth in the Danger Room. After nearly being defeated, Iceman arrives and Logan agrees to run his training program that the still-mourning Cyclops was supposed to run him through.

Soon after, Professor X asks the X-Men to return to Alkali Lake to retrieve irreplaceable parts from Cerebro. Once inside, they discover a group of HYDRA ransacking the base. Nightcrawler and Colossus are sent to find the Cerebro parts while Wolverine and Storm investigate HYDRA's presence. Both soon discover that Stryker had a backup plan to eradicate mutant-kind; the Sentinels.

Wolverine soon encounters Lady Deathstrike. She knocks out Storm and locks her in a chest while she battles Wolverine in the eye of a hurricane created by Storm in her panic. After Wolverine defeats her, Deathstrike escapes with HYDRA, the remaining Sentinels, and the Mastermold. Wolverine tells Storm he is going to follow because Deathstrike is a key to his past, however small. He promises to return as he attaches himself to Deathstrike's helicopter, which is en route to Tokyo, while Iceman, Storm, Colossus, and Nightcrawler return to the Institute.

In Tokyo, Logan infiltrates HYDRA's main base and interrupts a conversation between Deathstrike and Silver Samurai, the latter telling the former not to feel dishonored by Stryker's method of controlling her. As he interrupts their discussion, the Silver Samurai flees, leaving Logan to fight Deathstrike. As they battle each other, he emerges victorious when she is crushed under a pile of rubble.

Silver Samuria vs Wolverine 1

Logan then follows Silver Samurai to his base. He tells him that he is a mutant, and if he can defeat him in combat, he will tell him how to defeat the Sentinels through the Mastermold. The Silver Samurai's power is the ability to charge his sword with energy, letting it slice through nearly anything and channeling energy blasts through it. After defeating the Samurai in combat, Logan gains the information and informs the X-Men how to defeat Mastermold.

In Hong Kong, the X-Men are attacked by the new towering Giant Sentinels, crashing the X-Jet and leaving Iceman to defeat them. Iceman wipes out the Sentinels as Mastermold lurks in the distance. Magneto and his Brotherhood of Mutants arrive, and he uses his powers of magnetism to crush the Sentinels. With the temporary alliance now over, Magneto sends Sabretooth after a new recruit for his Brotherhood; Jason Stryker, whose mind control powers could serve as a great asset.

Arriving inside the Mastermold, Nightcrawler attempts to disable its control center while he is aided by a different, nicer "apparition" of Jason Stryker who helps point the way through the maze of the Mold's body. When he arrives at the Mastermold's command center, he finds Jason, who hates his younger manifestation, a reference to his split psyche.

Wolverine arrives in the Mastermold, and Jason uses his powers to make Wolverine fight a horde of himself in a mental battle. Victorious, Wolverine heads to Nightcrawler's location in the Mastermold's "head". Jason tries to distract Nightcrawler but fails. Nightcrawler disables the Mastermold's neural net and Iceman destroys the Mastermold's core, rendering it useless.

Sabretooth soon arrives, holding the unconscious Jason Stryker. Wolverine intervenes while Nightcrawler takes Jason to safety and Wolverine then attacks Sabretooth. After an intense battle, Wolverine throws Sabretooth from a great height and keeps him trapped in the Mastermold. After this battle, Wolverine and the X-Men return to the Institute.

Wolverine in the Danger Room.

Wolverine and the X-Men are seen training in the Danger Room. Wolverine is not in his X-Men uniform and is smoking a cigar while Storm leads the team, as he makes it harder for her to control the team. He makes Colossus throw him to the Sentinels' head and cuts it off. To Storm's annoyance, she complains to Logan about his actions as he then justifies himself saying that he was just a substitute to Cyclops, who is still mourning Jean's death.

Professor Xavier later sends Wolverine and Storm to investigate Alkali Lake. When they arrive, the two encounter telekinetically floating rocks, Cyclops' glasses, and an unconscious Jean.

Xavier explains that the majority of Jean's power is seated in her unconscious mind and that, as a result, her powers are largely fueled by instinct, and not under her complete control. In fact, Jean was so powerful that he had to put telepathic blocks on her mind to help keep her powers under control. Her bottled up powers manifested themselves as an id-like alternate personality called the "Dark Phoenix".

Jean and Logan

Logan and Jean kiss before she escapes.

Wolverine is initially disgusted to learn that Xavier had kept Jean in check telepathically, but when she awakens, he realizes she is not the Jean Grey he knew. Wolverine inquires about Cyclops, but she cannot remember and fears she has killed him. Jean pleads with Wolverine to kill her before she harms anybody else, but when he refuses, the Phoenix surfaces and telekinetically slams him into a wall. She then makes her escape. Magneto, also aware that Jean's powers are loose, meets Xavier at Jean's house. The two men try to win Jean's loyalty until the Dark Phoenix resurfaces, unleashing her devastating power. Soon Wolverine fights Juggernaut, and Storm battling Callisto, taking out Quill and Arclight. Furious at being caged within Jean's subconscious for 20 years, Phoenix destroys her family's house, disintegrates Xavier, and leaves with Magneto.

Wolverine and Storm profoundly mourn Charles' death. Following the losses of Xavier, Cyclops, and Rogue (who decides to take the mutant cure), the X-Men regroup and confront Magneto's enlarged Brotherhood of Mutants, which is attacking the Worthington Labs pharmaceutical facility on Alcatraz Island.

Wolverinebattle

During the battle, Shadowcat leaves to save Leech and at the end of the battle, Beast injects Magneto with the cure, nullifying his mutant powers. After this, Wolverine nearly coaxes Jean back to sanity. However, soldiers arrive and fire upon Jean. The Dark Phoenix quickly emerges and begins to disintegrate everything and everyone around her. While the X-Men and the surviving mutants and humans flee to safety, Wolverine fights his way to Jean, relying upon his healing abilities to save him from her destructive power. Momentarily gaining control, Jean begs Wolverine to save her. Professing his love for her, Wolverine reluctantly kills her by stabbing her in the stomach with his claws. Following the death of the Phoenix, Logan returned to the X-Mansion.

―Wolverine[src]

Sometime after 2006, Logan returned to the Canadian wilderness; in addition, he also regained his lost memories he lost in 1979. Living in the forest, he only visits the town for necessary supplies. Haunted and guilt-ridden by Jean Grey's death, as well as the memories of the deaths and war he encountered in his past, Logan again seeks the quiet life, attempting to renounce his life of violence. After getting into a fight with some men at a bar, Yukio tracks his whereabouts and takes him to Japan to see the man he saved from the Nagasaki bombing in 1945, Yashida, now the head of the Yashida Corporation.

That night, while Logan dreams of Jean, Viper injects a robotic parasite into his body, affecting his healing ability. During the night, Yukio informs him of Yashida's death.

After getting Mariko to safety, Wolverine follows her onto a bullet train, where he encounters more Yakuza assassins and kills them before they hide in a local motel. He stands guard in the rain while Mariko sleeps and soon passes out from his injuries after having a hallucination of Jean. He awakens to find Mariko getting the motel owner's grandson, a veterinarian, to stitch him up.

Logan and Mariko then hide in Yashida's house in southern Japan, and as they start to fall for each other, Logan reveals moments from his past such as the war and Jean. Yukio then has a vision of Logan dying with blood everywhere and his heart in his hand, not beating. She attempts to warn him but is too late, as Mariko is captured by the Yakuza who, after intimidating him, revealed to be hired by Mariko's fiance - the corrupt Chief of Justice Noburo Mori. After Logan and Yukio confront Noburo at his luxury apartment, he reveals that Shingen had hired the kidnapping before being thrown off by Logan, landing in a pool.

Mariko escapes from Harada and manages to direct the machine Logan is in into the Silver Samurai's sword strike, breaking it and freeing him. The Silver Samurai, who revealed as Yashida, drills through his adamantium claws and extracts his immortality. Mariko then stabs him as Wolverine's bone claws start to grow back. Yashida takes a final stab from Wolverine and falls to his death. After passing out, Wolverine had one more hallucination of Jean and moves on from her death.

Logan says goodbye to Mariko, now CEO of the Yashida Corporation, and boards a plane with Yukio, who reminds him that she is still his bodyguard and they depart.

Two years later, in 2015, Logan is at an airport and is approached by Magneto and Charles Xavier about a new threat to wipe out all mutants. In some point between 2015 and 2023, Logan's bone claws were once again coated in adamantium, presumably with Magneto's help.

Eight years later Wolverine, Storm, Professor X and Magneto arrive to find their fellow X-Men members in China where they plan to send Wolverine back to 1973 to stop Mystique from killing Bolivar Trask, which triggered the Sentinel Program. Because of his healing abilities, he is the only one that can physically and mentally survive the trip. Shadowcat sends him back to his younger body and he wakes up in 1973 next to a woman where three men shoot at him. Wolverine then kills them and goes to find Professor X.

Wolverine then goes to the X-Mansion where he makes a rough encounter with Hank McCoy. Wolverine finally sees Charles and asks his help, who reluctantly agrees. They plan to break Magneto out of prison for killing President John F. Kennedy. The three first head to Peter Maximoff's house and asks him to help. At the Pentagon, Charles, Wolverine, Quicksilver and Hank sneak into the facility and free Erik.

Later, when a depressed Charles is unable to use Cerebro to find Mystique, Logan has him use his mind as a "bridge" to his future self, allowing the two Charles Xavier's to communicate through him. The future Charles Xavier convinces his past self not to give up and he is able to use Cerebro once more.

As Wolverine, Professor X and Hank go to the unveiling of the Sentinels to find Mystique, the Sentinels begin attacking the public. Having successfully altered the timeline, Wolverine awakens in the Xavier Institute in the new future at precisely the same time he was sent back in time, to find Shadowcat, Rogue, Iceman, Colossus, Beast, Professor X and to his shock, Cyclops and Jean Grey alive again. Wolverine visits Professor X and reveals he has just finished time traveling and asks what happened in the last fifty years, apparently possessing no memory of the events of the new timeline. A delighted Professor X tells him they have a lot to catch up on.

X-Men: Apocalypse

Through unknown means, Wolverine is captured by the real Stryker and gets subjected to the Weapon X program at Alkali Lake, gaining a new adamantium structure in the process. He was shown with a harness and headgear with some cords pierced into his torso, designed to brainwash him into a living weapon for Stryker to command. The effect of the brainwashing turned Wolverine feral and primal, causing him to become instinctively aggressive and berserk. When Jean Grey, Cyclops, and Nightcrawler infiltrate the facility to rescue their captured friends from Stryker, Jean discovers Wolverine's cage and telepathically learns of his condition before unlocking the unit in an attempt to take some incoming guards out, causing the mutant to go on a violent rampage that leaves multiple personnel dead.

Personality

Despite seeming angry at all times, Logan is a rather complicated man, due to his violent and mysterious past.

His most famous traits would be his temper and attitude. Logan seems constantly angry and is very easy to become enraged. He has very little patience for those around him, this adds to his gruff demeanor and solo attitude. Logan prefers to be alone due to him disliking and distrusting the company of others. Despite his grumpy nature, he has a very dry sense of humor, constantly insulting others and giving them demeaning nicknames. Despite his grumpy attitude, Logan is a good person and will always stand up for those who can't defend themselves. Logan does not hesitate to harm or kill and harbors no remorse or guilt over any violent actions he has done in the past, with the exception of Jean Grey in the erased timeline.

Despite being an X-Man, Logan prefers to be alone. He has a deep distrust of people, regardless of whether they're both human and mutant, having seen nearly 200 years of violence, prejudice, and war. His solo attitude also stems from having people he trusted betray him, such as Kayla and his brother, Victor. However, the true reason for Logan's wanting to be alone is due to the fact that so many people tend to die around him, such as friends and loved ones.

Logan is extremely loyal to those few who can gain his trust. He is completely ready to sacrifice his life if it will save someone he loves, and will stop at nothing to protect his friends and family. Despite his blunt personality, Logan has made many friends with the X-Men, but most notably Rogue, becoming almost a father-figure to her, after realizing that both of them are outcasts. His is also one of Charles Xavier's most trusted allies, with Xavier even having a mentor kind of role to Logan.

Logan is a man of vice, loving to drink alcohol and smoke cigars, knowing that neither can effect his health, due to his powers. He is also an adamant motorcycle rider and has been shown multiple times as hating to fly in planes.

Though he is capable of thought, he has said himself that he has an animal side to his personality. This side of him is feral and primal, causing him to become instinctual and berserk, especially in combat. It is caused by his animalistic mutation and triggered by anger, fear, frustration, great annoyance, general distress, or pain. It result in him becoming highly aggressive and mindlessly brutal, similar to an animal, as he is prone to roar with rage in most of these cases. His animal mind is most notably shown in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, The Wolverine, X-Men: Days of Future Past and X-Men: Apocalypse.

Powers, Abilities, & Weaknesses

  • Retractable Claws - Wolverine possesses three 12-inch retractable claws in each forearm. While they were originally made of bone, like the rest of his skeletal structure, they were surgically bonded with a near-indestructible metal called adamantium. These metal claws allow him to cut through virtually any substance with little resistance. Despite losing the adamantium claws to Yashida, they were restored by the dystopian future of 2023.
  • Enhanced Strength - With his body naturally evolved and conditioned to the peak of human physical potential and continually adjusting to various forms of damage, becoming able to lift over 2 tons of weight. After his skeleton was laced with adamantium, he can still effortlessly carry himself. He can overpower full grown humans with his ease. His strength also extends to his legs, as he is able to jump several feet into the air.
  • Enhanced Speed - Wolverine is able to run over 60 mph and move with reflexes unobtainable by normal human beings. When sensing Victor was near and going after Kayla, he was able to leave from his job site and reach her car in minutes.
  • Advanced Healing Factor - Wolverine possesses instantaneous and limitless healing capabilities. Any damaged area or lost anatomy, he will completely heal and regenerate with no lingering side effects in seconds, even forcing objects embedded in his body out to allow his body to heal properly. Even if he does clinically die, he can quickly resuscitate himself. This trait makes him immortal. However, he is still capable of feeling pain and enough harm to him can render him unconscious. Despite being shot twice in the head and losing his memories, Wolverine was able to heal his brain injury and eventually regain his lost memories.
    • Disease/Contaminant Immunity - Wolverine is virtually immune to all virus, diseases, and most poisons or toxins. Only the most potent of chemicals will affect him and only for a brief period before returning to normal.
    • Ageless - Wolverine's healing factor keeps him from aging beyond his physical prime, having remained virtually unchanged despite being over 190 years, leading many to speculate that he could potentially live indefinitely. In addition to prolonging his life, his overall health, prowess, and condition remain at its peak.
    • Self-Sustaining - Wolverine requires no food or water to maintain his health or life, though he can partake in the activate for his own personal joy. During his seven years of self-imposed exile after killing Jean Grey, Wolverine remained completely unaffected despite never gathering any nourishment.
    • Enhanced Vitality - Wolverine exhibits inexhaustible vitality, virility, vigor, willpower and stamina, able to continue fighting far longer than any normal human while showing no signs of exhaustion. He is highly accustomed to pain. While not immune to the sensation, he can withstand most levels of pain with it only slightly fazing him. He also has great endurance, being able to continue fighting effectively after suffering several critical wounds while his healing powers were suppressed and likewise survive cutting open his chest without being sedated.
    • Enviromental Adaptation - Wolverine's body is able to survive and adapt to any environment without changing shape to adapt. He can wear minimal clothing in sub-zero temperatures without any harm.
  • Superhuman Senses - Wolverine has heightened senses heightened to superhuman levels, similar to various animals. Wolverine is able to track down and identify people through their scent alone, as well as detect their presence within a large area through scent and sound. This makes one disguising themselves, even Mystique using her shape-shifting powers, pointless due to the inability to change their scent. His hearing is equally acute, able to hear the low whisper of William Stryker while submerged in water. He can see much further and closer than normal humans with perfect clarity, even retaining this perfect clarity in total darkness. His senses enable him to sense when danger is near, such as at the Yashida's funeral.
  • Animal Empathy - Wolverine has the ability to sense the emotional state of animals on a basic level such as fear, anger, happiness or pain. He can even communicate with them to make them aware of his actions and/or his intent. This allows for dangerous animals to leave him alone rather than attacking him as would they normally would other people.
  • Adamantium Skeleton - Wolverine's entire skeletal system was surgically bonded and molecularly infused with a rare and indestructible metal called adamantium. In addition to furthering augmenting his physical might of his musculature, his body entire body is made indestructible. He was the only capable of walking through the full Phoenix Force.

  • Expert Hand-to-Hand Combatant - Due to his advanced age and military fighting for most of his life, experience in various wars, and cage fights, Wolverine is well-versed in various forms of hand-to-hand combat. Wolverine was able to compete against Lady Deathstrike, Deadpool, and Mystique, who are some of the best fighters on the planet. While mostly using savage slashes with his claws in combat, he is shown to be very precise and methodical, quickly adjusting his tactics to better suit the situation and type of opponent.
  • Weapons Proficiency - Wolverine is proficient in handling any melee weapon or firearm, due to his war experiences.
  • Skilled Leader - Despite being more of a solo warrior, when the situation requires it, Logan is a capable leader. He led the X-Men into victory at the battle of Alcatraz, and his leadership ability was instrumental in the mission to stop Trask from building his Sentinels.
  • Stealth Expert - Wolverine was able to sneak around at the Xavier institute with multiple "mercenaries" armed with night vision goggles and guns, being shot only once. Furthermore, he was able to sneak around Magneto's base camp, and whilst being attacked by several mutants, he still didn't alert the full force of the Brotherhood of Mutants and was able to slip among them after defeating the small group of mutants. In addition, he snuck into Three Mile Island's facility without being noticed in X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

  • Adamantium Weapons - Wolverine's adamantium claws cannot penetrate or destroy other adamantium weapons unless they are somehow super-heated (as seen in The Wolverine). Lady Deathstrike's fingertips were able to cause major damage to his body, but could not have killed him as he healed too quickly. Only The Silver Samurai's super heated, energized blades would be enough to truly kill him, as it could completely destroy him.
  • Magnetism - Due to the adamantium in his skeleton, Wolverine is vulnerable to being subdued or manipulated by enemies using magnetic powers, most notably Magneto.
  • Decapitation - If Wolverine's head were to be decapitated, he wouldn't be able to regenerate/heal himself and would thus die. However, with the indestructible adamantium bonded to his skeletal structure, this task becomes far more difficult, with the super-heated adamantium blades being the only known weapons to be capable of doing it.
  • Mental Impairment - Although Wolverine can regenerate his physical brain and thereby avoid any brain damage, his memories are still vulnerable to being damaged, as seen when Colonel Stryker shot him in the head, to which his regenerated brain tissue could not retain his memories. Over time, however, the damage done to Wolverine's memory has gradually restored itself. In X2: X-Men United, Wolverine begins to recall flashes of memory from his past. By The Wolverine, he appears to have regenerated his lost memories, as he remembered surviving the Nagasaki bombing in 1945.
  • Drained Healing Factor: As demonstrated by Ichirō Yashida, Wolverine's healing powers themselves are not self-restoring. If one can determine the nature of their workings, they can potentially extract the power from him, permanently impairing the powers. After Yashida was able to transfer some of Wolverine's healing power into himself, while Wolverine is still able to physically heal the same, his self-sustaining power was damaged, restarting his aging process. While still aging much slower than a normal human, he has begun to show signs of getting older as by 2023 of the original timeline, he developed a few grey hairs and minor wrinkles.
  • Oxygen Deprivation - Wolverine's healing factor is dependent on his brain subconscious activity. As such, if Wolverine is deprived of oxygen long enough, allowing his brain to shut down, he can die.
  • Drowning - Due to the weight of his adamantium-laced skeleton, it is difficult for Wolverine to swim as effectively as he could before. However, his superhuman strength and stamina allow him to compensate for the additional weight.
